Behavioral Medicine Associates, Inc.

We help you learn how to make positive change happen using specific new skills

Philosophy:

People are inherently flexible and capable. Armed with useful knowledge and practiced skills, people can accomplish great things. People want to give love and be loved. People want to create benefits for themselves and others.
People want to feel important to other people, to be valued, respected. Feelings and intuitions are as important as words. Kids want people to be delighted and tickled with who they are and what they do. Adults want this too. Everyone responds to encouragement. Some of us inherit or develop brain patterns that predispose toward anxiety, depression, inattention, overactivity or other problems. Then people need extra levels of awareness and skill and sometimes help from medications that can act as "first aid" while new skills are developing. ~ J.K. Nash, Ph.D., L.P.

ADHD:   Get past the labeling and find out what the attention problems are made of. We measure what the person's brain electrical activity during rest and during academic task conditions. This let's us see what is really going on. Most people who get diagnosed with ADHD have "sleepy" looking executive control regions. With neurofeedback, challenging tasks, active listening skills and the methods of cognitive behavior therapy, we help our patients take control, relax, focus and feel good while doing it. We minimize or eliminate the need for drugs.

Learn how Quantitative EEG helps you and us understand and develop rational treatment for difficulties like ADHD, Brain Injury and Major Depression. We make 7 separate recordings of the child or adult's brain activity during eyes closed rest, eyes open, reading, listening, math and drawing. These recordings are analyzed using the Neuroguide lifespan normative EEG database. This analysis tells us what regions of the brain are normally activating and what regions are not.
